Top 5 Travel and Local Apps on Android in Africa - Q3 2022

Throughout the third quarter of 2022, the top five travel and local apps on the Android platform in Africa showed diverse trends in downloads and active users, as reported by Sensor Tower.

Google Earth displayed a fluctuating trend in weekly downloads, starting at 50K in late June, peaking at 85K in mid-August, and then declining to 44K by the end of September. The app's weekly active users saw a steady increase from 339K in late June to a peak of 374K in mid-August, before slightly dropping to 332K by the end of the quarter.

Booking.com: Hotels & Travel experienced a gradual decline in weekly downloads, beginning the quarter at 32K and dropping to 19K by the end of September. Weekly active users showed a similar trend, peaking at 509K in late July and then decreasing to 432K by the end of the quarter.

Earth View 3D saw its weekly downloads peak early at 115K in mid-July, followed by a sharp decline to only 323 by the end of September. Its active users mirrored this trend, climbing to 110K in mid-July before dropping to 20K by the end of the quarter.

GPS Navigation Live Map Road had a consistent increase in weekly downloads, from 13K in late June to a peak of 22K in mid-August, before settling at 17K by the end of September. Active users also rose steadily, starting at 25K in late June and reaching 37K by mid-August, then slightly declining to 32K by the end of the quarter.

Currency converter offline showed an upward trend in weekly downloads, starting at 12K in late June and peaking at 20K in early September. Active users increased from 58K in late June to a peak of 76K in early September, before slightly decreasing to 71K by the end of the quarter.
